Diamondbacks Cruise Past Rockies with 5-1 Win
Rob Schumacher/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK

Improving their record to 5-0-1 over their last six games, the Arizona Diamondbacks secured a 5-1 win over the Colorado Rockies.

Tommy Henry, picking up his first win of the spring, delivered 3.1 innings of shutout baseball. He allowed only one base runner, who was promptly eliminated in a double play that concluded the 1st inning.

The Diamondbacks struck first when Ketel Marte drove in a run with a single in the 3rd inning. Marte has been exceptional at the plate this spring, boasting a .442 batting average.

In the 4th inning, Arizona extended their lead. Christian Walker kicked off the scoring with a leadoff home run. Shortly after, Emmanuel Rivera hit a triple into right field, bringing Gabriel Moreno home and increasing the lead to 3-0.

Eugenio Suarez added to the offensive display by hitting a 443-foot homer into left-center field and inning later.

The Rockies managed to score their only run in the 7th inning off Bryce Jarvis, who pitched 3.1 innings and allowed one earned run. The sequence of a double, a wild pitch, and then a ground ball to first base allowed Aaron Schunk to score.

The Diamondbacks’ pitching staff limited the Rockies to just three hits throughout the game.

Now standing at 12-13 in the Cactus League, the Diamondbacks are set to face the Seattle Mariners next, on Friday at 1:10 PM. Just six games remain before opening day.
