NHL bets: Three plus-money straights for Friday, March 8

We cashed all three of our plus-money looks on the ice last night, and now it's time to do it again with a trio of Friday plays in the NHL. We continue to target some great prices, with three spots all at +162 or better.

1u: Wyatt Johnston 4+ shots (+162 FanDuel)

Stars @ Ducks, Friday March 8, 10 p.m. ET

Wyatt Johnston and this Dallas Stars third line are absolutely rolling, yet here we are once again with books giving us just too good of a price to pass up.

Johnston now has 4+ shots in four straight, with 5+ in three straight, and he has hit this 4+ threshold in five of his last seven on the road.

The Ducks should offer little resistance to the Stars tonight, and with Anaheim severely shorthanded, it's not hard to see the third line here continuing to pile up shots and goals on some weaker depth forwards.

.5u: Marco Rossi 3+ shots (+220 FD)

Wild @ Avalanche, Friday, March 8, 9 p.m. ET

I don't necessarily love targeting Minnesota for shot props tonight, but Marco Rossi brought us good luck last night, and it seems only right if we roll over some of those profits into a fresh play backing the rookie center.

When we find runs like these on props at great prices, I've lately found the best course of action is to throw away matchups and just enjoy the ride.

For what it's worth, Colorado is allowing the ninth-most shots to centers over the past 10 games, which could help to open up lanes for Rossi.

The Wild's second-line center now has 3+ shots in four straight games and six of his past eight. On the road, nearly the same results, four straight games with 3+ and six of his past seven.

The rookie has also piled up five, three and four SOG in his past three games on a back-to-back. It's hard to not sprinkle on this price.

.5u: Michael Carcone goal (+425 ESPN)

Red Wings @ Coyotes, Friday, March 8, 9 p.m. ET

Ah, yes, just what you were expecting, right? A bottom-six forward on the Arizona Coyotes to score a goal?

This one is a bit out there, and yes, I'd love if Carcone was playing more than the ~12 minutes per game he's been seeing on the ice of late, but you can't argue with the numbers.

Carcone tops Arizona in 5v5 shots over the past five home games, which I find objectively funny. Despite playing less than most of the team, Carcone leads the group in 5v5 shots (13), expected goals (1.29) and high-danger chances (five).

He now has a goal in two straight games and three of his last four. Who am I to question this effectiveness, no matter how few and far between his shifts might be?

I like this game to see plenty of goals, as both sides have been loose to goals against in their respective locations. This is definitely a riskier play, but at this price, I'll dance.
