Inter have been hit with a €3,000 fine for chants aimed at Milan left-back Theo Hernandez during the team’s Scudetto celebrations on Sunday evening.

The Nerazzurri embarked on a victory parade through Milan after the conclusion of their 2-0 win over Torino in Serie A at the end of the weekend, and some fans and players could not help but poke fun at their second-placed city rivals. There were plenty of chants aimed at Milan and their players, none more so than Hernandez.

One of the most striking images from the event was wing-back Denzel Dumfries, holding aloft a banner handed to him from the crowd, that depicted him and Hernandez superimposed onto an image from popular video game GTA V.

The banner showed ‘Dumfries’ holding a leash with a dog, which had Hernandez’s face photoshopped in on top. Dumfries then issued an apology on Instagram, admitting he had made an ‘error of judgement’.

Inter fined for chants, not for Dumfries banner

The fine that Inter received on Tuesday relates specifically to the chants sung by the crowd about Theo Hernandez, and not the banner that Dumfries held up.

The Dutchman could still be punished further, with a fine, or even potentially with a suspension, depending on the outcome of an investigation led by the Sporting Judge in Italy, which was opened on Monday.
